The Quran tells us that our Creator made us so that each of us could have a close relationship with Him, as His loved servants.
Quran 51:56
I did not create the jinns and the humans except to worship Me alone.
The heart of this relationship consists of a beautiful dynamic where we devote our ourselves to Him alone, and He in turn showers us with His love and mercy. We seek provisions from Him alone, and He alone provides from us. We turn to Him alone for guidance and compassion, and He provides us with guidance and compassion.
Quran 30:30
Therefore, you shall devote yourself to the religion of strict monotheism. Such is the natural instinct placed into the people by GOD. Such creation of GOD will never change. This is the perfect religion, but most people do not know.
Trials will inevitably come our way, but if we remain steadfast, we will be granted peace and security in both this life and the next.
Quran 24:55
GOD promises those among you who believe and lead a righteous life, that He will make them sovereigns on earth, as He did for those before them, and will establish for them the religion He has chosen for them, and will substitute peace and security for them in place of fear. All this because they worship Me alone; they never set up any idols beside Me. Those who disbelieve after this are the truly wicked.
The Almighty tells us in the Quran that the majority of humanity has failed to understand this divine plan and has failed to live in alignment with God’s decree.
We cannot deny that we come to Earth and become very busy devoting ourselves to everything other than God. We become busy attempting to provide for ourselves and depend on ourselves, rather than seeking provisions from God alone, and depending on God alone. We look to humans for help and comfort, or we look to social media, alcohol, money, relatives for help and comfort, rather than seeking this from the Almighty.
In the midst of our busy worldly lives whereby we hoard money and children, day by day, the majority of us have forgotten the Almighty.
Quran 57:20
Know that this worldly life is no more than play and games, and boasting among you, and hoarding of money and children. It is like abundant rain that produces plants and pleases the disbelievers. But then the plants turn into useless hay, and are blown away by the wind. In the Hereafter there is either severe retribution, or forgiveness from GOD and approval. This worldly life is no more than a temporary illusion.
Quran 9:69
Some of those before you were stronger than you, and possessed more money and children. They became preoccupied with their material possessions. Similarly, you have become preoccupied with your material possessions, just like those before you have become preoccupied. You have become totally heedless, just as they were heedless. Such are the people who nullify their works, both in this world and in the Hereafter; they are the losers.
Do we enjoy the creation of God more than we enjoy our worship of God? This is against the design of the Almighty. We were meant to have the best gift of all, a strong trusting relationship with our Creator. One where we bow to Him with all our heart, and He in turn appreciates our worship and takes care of all our needs.
Stop for a moment and visualize millions of humans frantically running around on earth, seeking everything but God. And God sees us from on high, and invites us through His scriptures to devote ourselves to Him alone, yet we continue to ignore this invitation, instead delighting ourselves in His gifts and complaining loudly should anything go wrong.
God’s system was never that we would provide for ourselves, or meet our own needs. We simply cannot, because we were born slaves to the Almighty and we will die as slaves to the Almighty. In fact, all of creation is dependent on and therefore a slave to the Almighty. That is the unchangeable system, because there is only one God. One provider, one sustainer, one and only one.
God’s system instead was that we would devote ourselves to Him and seek from Him, and He in turn will take care of everything for us.
Quran 10:49
Say, “I possess no power to harm myself, or benefit myself; only what GOD wills takes place.” Each community has a predetermined life span. Once their interim comes to an end, they cannot delay it by one hour, nor advance it.
The devil suggests to us that if we stop depending on ourselves, or on other humans, then we will not get ahead in life. If we take our attention away from the worldly life and seek God and the Hereafter then we will miss out.
This is an ancient lie.
Believing this lie stops us from turn to God alone and severing our dependence on all but Him.
I invite you today to take the plunge and surrender to God. Trust in His system. Release your desire to control the outcome of anything. Let go of that internal war inside yourself where you constantly object to what is happening around you.
Turn to Him. Place your trust in Him.
Take the plunge, and find Him on the other side.
He is more amazing than you could possibly imagine.
