Imran Khan’s State of Medina

THE QURAN HAS NO SUPPORT FOR A STATE

There is nothing in the Quran to support a modern state such as Pakistan, or India or United States of America (federal government of USA).

Neither was there a ‘State of Medina.’ When Prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina he signed an agreement (Mīthāq al-Madīnah) with various tribes of the city. The agreement considered all signatories (Jews and Muslims) as one community (umma) of believers. Each tribe remained in charge of their own affairs. Disputes were referred to Prophet Muhammad for resolution. The various tribes had their own expenses and were responsible as such for their expenses. All parties to the agreement were to assist each other in war and share the expense.

This document was an agreement, it was not a constitution of a state.

THE QURAN AND MEDINA AGREEMENT ARE THE ONLY AUTHENTIC DOCUMENTS

Dr Fred Donner, University of Chicago, points out in his research that only two documents are authentic from that period. The call in the Quran is for ‘O you who believe’. The Muslims, the Jews, the Christians and the Zoroastrians all believe in God and are part of ‘O you who believe’. Dr. Donner in his research points out that the Roman and the Persian empires, the largest empires of that period collapsed without any evidence of destruction or war, when cities and communities welcomed ‘those who believed’ and the freedom that came with them.

TEACHINGS OF THE QURAN

The Quran is God’s words. Prophet Muhammad followed the teachings of the Quran. The Quran advocates justice, humanity, freedom of religion, adhering to rule of law and agreements and certainly seeking knowledge.

The Quran laid the foundation which led the Muslims to prosper as a great civilization. As long as the Muslims followed the Quran alone, they prospered.

The current state of Muslims worldwide and the Muslim countries is the result of them having discarded the Quran and God’s laws in the Quran.

LAST SERMON OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD.

As stated before, the only two authentic documents of that period are the Quran and the Medina agreement. Prophet Muhammad’s last sermon is known for the following rather than a ‘charter of human rights’. The Quran contains the charter of human rights.

1) I leave with you Quran and Sunnah
Muwatta, 46/3

2) I leave with you Quran and Ahl al-bayt
Muslim 44/4, Nu2408; ibn hanbal 4/366; darimi 23/1, nu 3319.

3) I leave with you the Quran alone you shall uphold it.
Muslim 15/19, nu 1218; ibn Majah 25/84, Abu dawud 11/56.

One might notice the above versions of the last sermon divides the Sunnis and Shias, who have no disagreements about the Quran!

THE ‘STATE’ IS THE MODERN DAY IDOL

The Quran condemns idolatry and informs us that it is the only unforgivable sin. Besides the obvious idolatry of humans, the ‘state’ has become a modern idol. Thus, instead of turning to God, most turn to the ‘State’ for help today.
